Dmg sword of vengeance. Guys, I've done all the reading, tried things several times but I'm still faced with the situation that attached devices insist on connecting to the Internet to download iOS updates. I do some work for a shool that has a few hundred iPads and it's starting to cause issues with bandwidth and excessive downloads so I really need to sort this out.

Level 1 (0 points) RedWings Jul 12, 2016 7:48 AM No matter what I do, AC 2.3 (or 1.7) wants to downgrade my test iPads and will not manage iOS 10 (beta 2). Any suggestions? How can I test our enviroment without these two working together? For detailed Apple Configurator 2 requirements, see Requirements in Apple's Help documentation. For information on static and dynamic Apple Configurator 2 enrollment URLs, see Apple Configurator Enrollment Settings in the Jamf Pro Administrator's Guide. Apple Configurator 2.5 or later allows you to add devices with iOS 11 or later to an Apple. I have a MacBook with OS X 10.7.5 I'm trying to download Apple Configurator and it says I need at least 10.12.5. I tried running software update on the MacBook and it says it has the latest version OS. So I'm assuming that 10.7.5 is the latest the hardware will support. Sep 20, 2017 Is the new Apple Configurator 2.5 (3F60) working for you to add old devices into DEP? After I enrolled it via configurator and logged into DEP there was the new Added by Apple configurator listed by by MDM server. I was immediately able to go to assign devices and put in the serial number of the iPad I just enrolled in DEP and assign it to.
I've gone to a reputable site like ipsw.me etc, and placed the .ipsw file here:
~/Library/Group Containers/K36BKF7T3D.group.com.apple.configurator/Library/Caches/Firmware/
https://ejivyy.weebly.com/blog/civilization-5-free-download-mac. But when I go through the usual process of updating the iOS, all the devices continue to download from the Internet. I even tried dragging the .ipsw file on to the devices in AC2 and the devices once again demanded an Internet connection.

Can someone talk me through how the heck I can store either .ipsw update files or full .ipsw files offline and use these to update all the attached devices? Ideally, I'd really like to work off the update files because that takes less time to deploy but if it has to be a complete .ipsw, then so be it.
